Barbra Streisand wore this Beltrami velvet skirt and matching evening jacket to the London premiere of “The Prince Of Tides” on Feb. 18th, 1992. The black velvet set features a plunging V neck, single breasted jacket with a two button closure, curved hem and long, puffed sleeves. An elongated sequin and beaded embellishment runs down the left side. The velvet pencil skirt has a zipper closure. Barbra paired this with a black camisole and diamond necklace.
This event was held at Odeon Luxe, Leicester Square and was a Royal Charity Premier to benefit Aids Crisis Trust. Princess Diana famously attended. When asked about the night, Barbra said “The night of the opening, she made me stand up first. Quite contrary to protocol.” On this night, Diana reportedly joked to Barbra “I’m mad and my husband agrees. He wants me treated in a home.” The event raised €100,000 for the charity. This outfit sold at auction in 2009 for $812.50 USD.
