Custom Miss Fanny Bergen Bag

Barbra Streisand had this purse hand painted in the likeness of her dog Miss Fanny, by Candice Bergen. Miss Fanny is a Coton de Tuléar who found her home with Barbra in August 2017 via Coton breeder and expert Marilyn Smart. Miss Fanny is a distant cousin of Barbra’s beloved Sammie who passed in May 2017. Barbra’s adorable custom design features Miss Fanny in the clouds surrounded by a circle of pink and blue flowers of various sizes.

Barbra and Miss Fanny

Candice Bergen stumbled into customizing bags in 2016 when her daughter asked her to decorate her Louis Vuitton bag. A photo of the bag became an instagram hit, and soon more people were asking Candice to decorate their bags. With the help of her daughter Chloe Malle, Bergen launched her small customization business and dubbed it “Bergen Bags.”

The best part about this business is that all profits are donated to the ASPCA or NRDC. Bergen states “At the age of 70, it is fun to do something I haven’t done before. I used to draw cartoony things and I wasn’t bad at that. It has been a sharp learning curve but enjoyable. I set up my paints on the long table on our porch in East Hampton, put golden oldies on the radio and work happily.” Candice has painted everything from pets to initials to taco’s on her clients designer handbags. Customization takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks and fees range from $300-$1,200.00 depending on the design and time required.
